How to Make Your 3D Models Stand Out

modeling tutorial texturing

Only because your model is simple, it doesn't mean it cannot look awesome. A LOT can be done with textures. And the best part is, it does not take much time or effort.

You can take a simple cube, scale it up, cut out the middle, and add a glass texture. Then, model a handle or two, and cut out an inset on the sides. The rest can be left to decals and trim sheets. It is literally that easy.

However, there are a few things you should know.

First of all, be smart with how you use trims and decals. Adding them indiscriminately or in excessively large sizes will look terrible.

Another thing is, you need to ensure that you have a decent and well-designed base, so the model makes sense visually and is pleasing to look at. Now, that takes practice, I know, but everything in life does. So, keep at it!

Try not to overcomplicate things either. There is no need to go mad with detail modeling. Keep it clean and steady, making sure that your idea is well fleshed out.

And the most important thing...

Don't worry about your speed. It's okay if it takes you more time. Remember, it's all practice, and none of us were born with a level 100 skill in Blender modeling. Be persistent, and you WILL improve.

Texturing is becoming easier than ever in Blender. In fact, we are currently working on a Blender Bros texturing add-on, which will transform texturing from a boring and node-fixing process to a fun and easy task. So, be on the lookout for upcoming YouTube videos where we will be showcasing new textures and add-on features once it's ready for testing.

Keep pushing!
